Newton is the brainchild of recruiting professionals who launched the product in 2009 after having run hundreds of high-performance recruiting programs across the US. Their goal wasn’t to revolutionize recruiting, it was to create an ATS that was easy-to-use, easy-to-implement, and affordable for any size of company regardless of how fast they were growing.

Newton Business Unit GM, Head of Products, Co-Founder
Steve runs Paycor’s Newton Business Unit. Prior to starting Newton Software, Steve founded Gravity Technologies, Inc., a human capital management company. Prior to entering the recruiting industry, he managed a Senate campaign in Idaho, his home state, and worked for the New Hampshire Senate. Steve received an Honors degree in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire. In his spare time, Steve enjoys dry fly-fishing, cycling, backpacking, and reading. Recently Steve was named the top-rated CEO in the HCM space by Owler.
Head of Sales, Marketing, and Alliances, Co-Founder
Joel leads Sales, Marketing, and Alliances for Newton. Joel was instrumental in developing the strategic relationship with Paycor, leading to Newton’s acquisition in 2015. Prior to co-founding Newton, Joel co-founded Gravity Technologies Inc. with Steve Hazelton and served as COO and Vice President of Business Development. During his tenure at Gravity it was named to the San Francisco Business Times “Top 100” for fastest growing companies in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. Joel earned a degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University.
Head of Services, Customer Success, and Support
Jonathan has over 15 years’ experience building teams that create exceptional customer experiences. Prior to Newton’s acquisition by Paycor, Jonathan was Vice President of Services at Gravity Technologies where he established Gravity’s outsourced, Services based recruiting solution. Before entering the HCM space Jonathan held a similar role at Marketsoft (now IBM), a global SaaS marketing automation company. Jonathan is a graduate of Manhattanville College and enjoys mountain and road biking, skiing, cooking, and eating extraordinarily spicy food.

When Newton was founded in 2009, our mission was simple. Design software that we’d want to use, sell it how we’d want to buy it, and provide the level of support we’d expect as customers.
Newton was acquired by Paycor in December of 2015, allowing us to grow our team of product experts and engineers. Continued investment by Paycor enables us to improve our product and provide superior support that our customers have come to expect from our team. Today, Newton is used by over 1500 HR teams on any given day making our ATS one of the fastest growing in the World.
ATS software is only successful when adoption is high. We’ve made it easy to get your entire team involved in hiring and we are constantly looking for more ways to improve usage rates across all of our clients. We use Newton ourselves and we know that more usage means more data. More data yields better analytics. Better analytics leads to better decisions. Better decisions means healthier organizations.
We use Newton internally to manage all our hiring, so we design ATS Software that we want to use as recruiters.
