Gary Kustis, Ph.D., Management Consultant and Industrial Psychologist

Dr. Gary Kustis is an industrial psychologist and management consultant with over 20 years of experience advising organizations on how to evaluate individuals for hire. Throughout his career, Gary has utilized his unique testing methods to assess hundreds of thousands of recruiters and other professionals. Through this considerable experience, he has developed comprehensive programs for creating and validating scalable selection systems. Large and small companies alike have relied on Gary’s training and consulting to find success in their hiring practices, so we are ecstatic to share his insights with you free of charge!

Gary holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Consumer and Industrial Psychology from Cleveland State University. Gary also has a Ph.D. in Business (Micro-Organizational Theory and Personnel, with a Minor in Statistics), from Kent State University.

Joel Passen, Newton’s Co-Founder/Head of Marketing & Sales

Joel’s entire professional career has been spent at the intersection of technology and talent. Joel started his career in the trenches of talent acquisition as a technical recruiter during the pre-internet days. After developing in this role for several years, Joel went on to become co-founder of Gravity Technologies Inc., a technology recruitment firm that offered recruitment process outsourcing services for over a decade. While with Gravity, Joel served as the Head of Delivery Services for one of the first RPOs, managing and directing over 75 recruiting programs throughout the U.S. Joel also served as a member of the core operating team at Gravity, where he was responsible for hiring, training and managing over 150 recruiters and delivery managers during his tenure. In 2009, Joel drew upon this deep knowledge of talent and technology to establish Newton Software, a leading applicant tracking system provider.
